The month-long transfer window of the Bangladesh Premier football League for the 2016-2017 season for the local players ended at the Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) office in the capital yesterday.
This year a total of 12 teams will participate though it was a competition for 13 teams. Feni Soccer and Uttar Baridhara Club demoted from Premier to First Division, while Saif Sporting Club and Fakirerpool Young Men’s Club promoted. But Fakirerpool expressed their reluctance to play premier phase. As a result, the competition limited to 12 teams though the country’s football apex body sought to increase the number of teams in the premier stage.
Seven teams, out of 12, appeared to hold their transfer formalities at the last day of the month-long transfer schedule.
Arambagh Krira Shangha was the first team, who came at the BFF premises with banner and band part to do their transfer procedure. The club brought Alamu Bukola Olalekan back from Nigeria to boost up the forward along with Nkurumeh (Nigeria) and Ikanga (Cameroon). Maruful Haque, an experienced coach in domestic football, took the charge of the club as the head coach. Haque said at the press meet that he wants to fight with the youngster players.
“I established myself in Bangladesh football by the established players. But this time I have no such players in the club. I want to fight with them, though it will be very difficult for me,” said Maruful Haque.
Team BJMC also took part with Rahamatganj Muslim Friends Club, Farashganj Sporting Club. Organisers of the BJMC told that they want to revive the glorious past of the club.
