Musician Runa Laila will be performing at the Eden Gardens during the historic Pink Test match between India and Bangladesh today “Sourav Ganguly himself called and invited me to perform. I am really honoured. It is obviously a historic moment with teams playing a day-and-night Test in Kolkata. Besides all the cricketers from both the countries, several dignitaries, including government officials, will also be present. Performing on such an esteemed platform is really an honour. Besides Sourav, Bangladesh Cricket Board too has sent me the invitation and is helping me with everything for the trip,” Runa said.
What will you be singing? “Seta ekhoni bole dewar dorkar ache?” the singer asked laughingly. On being requested repeatedly, she revealed, “I will sing Sadher Lau, Bondhu Tin Din and one Hindi song, Damadam Mast Qalandar.”
Runa arrived in the city yesterday, perform on November 22 and return to Dhaka the next day. Is there anything she is planning to do during her stay? “Nothing as such. I visit Kolkata too often to plan anything special. Recently, I worked with a television channel here,” she told us.
