Composition of Forms and Colours begins tomorrow

A solo tapestry and painting exhibition by Tajul Islam titled Composition of Forms and Colours is set to begin tomorrow in La Galerie of Alliance Franaise de Dhaka (AFD) in Dhanmondi of the capital.
The inaugural ceremony of the exhibition will be held at 5:30pm where eminent architect Rabiul Husain will be present as the chief guest and veteran artist Professor Hamiduzzaman Khan will also attend the event as the special guest.
A collection of 33 tapestry artworks and 32 paintings will be put on display in the exhibition.
Taijul Islam was born in 1946 at Shariatpur District. From 1965 to 1979, Tajul Islam spent 14 years with Rashid Chowdhuryknown as a pioneer in tapestry art in Bangladeshin his studio honing the craft of creating compelling and beautiful tapestries. One look at Islams creations and it is understandable that he takes after Chowdhury. Though the influence is there, it does not overpower Islams unique kind of coloured stripes, imagery or visual language. The septuagenarian artist is still active and beaming, creating inspirational tapestries full of life and movement. Featuring both tapestries and paintings, the theme for this exhibition is Inventing the Creative Beauty. Tajuls canvases or screens are full with colorful forms and black-white-red-yellow-blue-green patches those express various conceptions and perceptions of aesthetic human realization.
The exhibition will remain open to all till November 23 and can be visited according to the following schedule: Monday to Thursday from 3pm to 9pm, Friday and Saturday (9am to12noon and 5pm to 8pm). Closed on Sunday. l
