Five teams bag one title each

Five teams shared five titles evenly on the opening day of the Lutfunnesa Haque Bakul Inter District Women Athletics Championship. The two day meet began at Sultana Kamal Women Sports Complex in the capital yesterday. About 250 athletes drawn from different districts are taking part in nine events.
Suriya Akhtar of Dhaka won the first title in long jump event of the championship. Fatema of Kishoreganj bagged the discus throw , while Rony Bhowmick of Jessore won the shot put title. Two sprints events were also held on the day.  Sultana Khatun of Pabna clinched the 200m and Ayesha Akhtar Ayishi got the 400m respectively.
Mahbuba Ara Guinea, whip of the National Parliament, inaugurated the championship as chief guest. Bangladesh Women Sports Federation president Rafia Akhtar Dolly was also present.
