A Dhaka court yesterday acquitted Dhaka-5 lawmaker Habibur Rahman Mollah in a case lodged for allegedly amassing illegal wealth and concealing information about it. Dhaka 10th Special Judges Court passed the order, acquitting the lawmaker in his absence. The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) on October 3, 2007, filed the case against Mollah for amassing illegal wealth of Taka 2.32 crore and concealing information about wealth of Taka 1.38 crore in his wealth statement. The ACC filed charge sheet on April 20, 2008, in the case and the court on May 14, 2008, framed charges against Mollah. The court yestedray came up with the judgement after examining 21 of the 25 prosecution witnesses.
