Jagannath University Film Society is going to organise a three-day film festival titled ‘Aamader Cinema from January 22 to 24. The festival will be held at the central auditorium of Jagannath University in the capital. With the aim of promoting Bangladeshi cinema among the younger audience, the festival will host eight of the most prominent and much-talked-about films of the year 2018.
The participating films are— ‘Mr. Bangladesh’ (22 January at 10am), ‘Swapnajaal’ (22 January at 1pm), ‘Poramon’ 2 (23 January 9:30am), ‘Pathshala’ (23 January at 12pm), ‘Matir Projar Deshe’ (23 January at 1:45pm), ‘Dohon’ (24 January 9:30am), ‘Komola Rocket’ (24 January 11:45pm) and ‘Debi’ (24 January 1:30pm).
The festival will also host a seminar titled ‘Generating Audience: Film Festivals and Public screening at Colleges and Universities’ on January 24. The seminar will be presided over by Professor Junaid Ahmed Halim, Chairman of the Department of Film & Television, Jagannath University and mentor of Jagannath University Film Society while vice-chancellor of Jagannath University, Professor Dr Mizanur Rahman will attend the seminar as chief guest.
The filmmakers of the participating films are also expected to attend the seminar as special guests. The Independent is the print media partner of the festival.
