The study of organisations and the collection of people within them includes the field of organizational behaviour (OB). Gives understanding and guidance about a whole range of organizational behaviour issues. While working in an organization, it is very important to understand the behaviour of others as well as make others understand the organisation. In order to maintain a healthy working environment, it is necessary to adapt to the environment and understand the goals need to achieve. This can be easily done if business understand the importance of OB.

OB is the study of the impact of individuals, groups and structure on behaviour within organizations, for the purpose of applying this knowledge in order to improve the effectiveness of the organization. In other words, indicates how organizations interact with other people and organizations. In business, organizational behaviour can be used to understand the kinds of people that will thrive in business and who will suffer.

In the 1960's and 1970's, the field OB was strongly influenced by social psychology and the emphasis in academic study was quantitative research. An explosion of the origin, bounded rationality, informal organisation, contingency theory, resource dependence, institution theory and population ecology theories have contributed to the study of organisational behaviour.In 1776, Adam Smith advocated a new form of organisational structure based on the division of labour. One hundred years later, German Sociologist Max Weber introduced the concept about rational organisations and initiated the concept of charismatic leadership.Though the origin to the study of Organisational Behaviour can trace its roots back to Max Weber and earlier organisational studies, it is generally considered to have begun as an academic discipline with the advent of scientific management in the 1890's, with Taylorism representing the peak of the movement.

It helps explain the personal relationships that employees share with one another as well as with their subordinates. Prediction of individual behaviour can be explained. It balances the friendly relationship in the organization by maintaining effective communication. Helps in marketing, helps managers to encourage their own sub-departments. Any change within the organization can be easier. It helps anticipate and apply human behaviour to achieve organizational goals. It helps make the organization more effective.

OB can be used in the practice; the results of the organizational behaviour research body can be used by executives and human relations workers to better understand the work culture, how this culture can facilitate or hinder productivity and employee retention, and how to better evaluate the skill of the group of candidates and their personality during the recruitment process. The application of theory and knowledge can be divided from the field of organizational behaviour into sections of personality, job satisfaction, reward management, leadership, authority, power and politics. There is rarely one correct way to assess the proper way to manage any of these things, but OB research can provide a set of guidelines and topics to follow: Personality essentially a series patterned behaviour plays a large role in the way a person interacts with groups and produces work. Knowing a person’s personality, either through a series of tests or through conversation can give a better idea of whether they are a fit for the environment they’d be hired into, and how best to motivate that person.Motivation is the process to encourage the employee to work effectively to achieve the organisational goal. Manager has to identify the system to motivate his/her employees. Without an appropriate technique manager cannot satisfy each and every employee. So initially manager has to identify the needs and based on that needs he/she can motivate the employee by provide incentives. However, Maslow’s hierarchy of need theory and Herzberg’s two factor theories are mostly consider by decision makers. Motivational system can be identified by categorize the employee’s needs under these theories. Example, if an employee has a need for job security, manager can motivate him by giving long term contract, job related training programme and so on.In OB, job satisfaction is one of the most researched variables in the area of workplace psychology and has been associated with numerous psychosocial issues the changing world of work, organizational factor ranging from leadership to job design. It is the level of contentment a person feels regarding his or her job. This feeling is mainly based on an individual’s perception of satisfaction. It can be influenced by a person’s ability to complete required tasks, the level of communication in an organization, and the way management treats employees. Theories around job satisfaction vary widely, but some argue that a satisfying job consists of a solid reward system, compelling work, good supervisors, and satisfactory working conditions. Leadership, what it looks like and where it derives from a rich subject for discussion and study in organizational behaviour. When one considers that it is related to management, it can be either broad, centralized, decentralized, decentralized, and decision-oriented, a fundamental element of a person's personality or a result of the status of authority.Power, authority, and politics all operate inter-dependently in a workplace.Understanding the appropriate methods, as agreed by workplace rules and general ethical guidelines, in which these elements are presented and used are essential components for managing a coherent business.

The analysis of organizational behaviour above showed how important it is to know the organizational behaviour for an organization's management. All behaviours are important because they are connected to each other. If group behaviours are not met, they can go to a training program. Also, if the leadership style changes, business can identify the missing part of the change that can be driven or achieve job satisfaction. Like this all behaviours are linked with others. So when the organization is planned, they must test their behavioural knowledge. Thus, the study of organizational behaviour helps to identify patterns of human behaviour and sheds light on how these patterns have a profound impact on the functioning of the organization.
