Rangpur division recorded 4.55 percent

Covid-19 positivity rate as 17 fresh cases were reported today after testing 374 new samples at two laboratories in the division. 

"The overall Covid-19 situation is improving constantly in the division in  the last one and a half months," Focal Person of Covid-19 and Assistant Director (Health) for Rangpur division Dr ZA Siddiqui said. 

Earlier, the daily positivity rates were 7.39 percent on Friday, 3.36 percent on Thursday, 6.29 percent on Wednesday, 6.01 percent on Tuesday, 5.50 percent on Monday and 5.43 percent on Sunday last in the division. 

Among the 17 new patients, eight were reported Covid-19 positive after diagnosing 184 samples at the Covid-19 Laboratory at Rangpur Medical College (RpMC) in Rangpur city at the positivity rate of 4.30 percent today.

"The eight new Covid-19 infected patients include four each from Rangpur and Kurigram districts," Principal of RpMC Professor Dr AKM Nurunnobi Lyzu told BSS at 7:10 pm. 

On the other hand, nine new patients were reported after diagnosing 188 samples at the Covid-19 Laboratory at M Abdur Rahim Medical College (MARMC) in Dinajpur at the daily positivity rate of 4.79 percent today. 

"The nine new Covid-19 infected patients include five from Dinajpur, three from Thakurgaon and one from Panchagarh and districts," Principal of MARMC Professor Dr Syed Nazir Hossain said. 

Talking to BSS, Divisional Director (Health) Dr Md Motaharul Islam said the number of Covid-19 patients rose to 54,513 as 17 new positive cases were 
reported today from across the division. 

"The district-wise break up of total 54,513 patients include 12,306 of Rangpur, 3,694 Panchagarh, 4,369 of Nilphamari, 2,719 of Lalmonirhat, 4,607  of Kurigram, 7,437 of Thakurgaon, 14,551 of Dinajpur and 4,830 of Gaibandha 
in the division," he added.
