England’s Bangladesh tour in jeopardy

UNB, Dhaka
England’s Bangladesh tour in jeopardy

England cricket team’s Bangladesh tour in September-October is in jeopardy. Some media outlets of England suggested that the tour is postponed indefinitely, but the chief executive officer of the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has said that both the boards are still discussing the future of the tour. There is nothing official from the England ad Wales Cricket Board (ECB) yet.
When England are scheduled to tour Bangladesh, the remainder of the Indian Premier League (IPL) will take place in the UAE. ECB had earlier said that they won’t allow their players to play IPL if the national team has an assignment.

“We are discussing the ECB about rescheduling the tour of England to Bangladesh,” Nizamuddin Chowdhury, the CEO of BCB told the media Monday evening.

“We have a World Cup coming up. Every team has a tight schedule to meet. And at the same time, we have to think about the adequate rest of the players. It doesn’t mean that the series won’t take place,” he added.

In this series, England are scheduled to play three ODIs and as many as T20Is. The ODIs are part of the World Cup Super League, which is actually the qualifying round of the next 50-over World Cup which will take place in India in 2023.

“If the series continues as it was initially planned, it’s good. But if we change the schedule, we will let know the media. If we can’t host England on time, we may find out a convenient time,” Nizamuddin further added.
