Staff Reporter, Dhaka
‘Girls Squad’ to premiere in Bongo Eid-ul-Azha

Bangladesh’s first and largest OTT video streaming platform Bongo is premiering a women-focused drama serial ‘Girls Squad’ for Eid-ul-Azha this year.

Primarily comedy, the story-line of the drama serial evolves with a complex web of emotion, drama, and romance, to wonderfully-portrayed stories of six women, their struggles with love and life, inspirations and aspirations, friendship and understanding, according to a press release.

This trend can be the start of something new, revolutionary and extraordinarily marvelous to shift the focus off a traditionally male-focused concept and storytelling in Bangladesh’s OTT platforms.

Key roles of the women in the drama series are played by Samira Khan Mahi, Nabila Binta Islam, Rukaia Jahan Chomok,  Sharna Lata,  Jarin Tasnim Antara, and Samonty Shoumi’ and features popular contemporary male actors Marzuk Russell and Chashi Alam.

The first season will premiere with 20 episodes. The serial has been written and directed by Maidul Rakib and produced by Bongo.

The inspiration for the original story-line of ‘Girls Squad’ was drawn from the ‘Bongo Bob’ or ‘Bongo Based on Books’ series, which was designed   from the seven best-selling books of Ekushey Boi Mela that became widely popular after premiering during Eid-ul-Fitr.

Girls Squad’ will be available for viewers on Bongo’s Android, iOS, and Bongo Web (www.bongobd.com) platforms from the day of Eid-ul-Azha,   the statement added.
