1,81,327 get second dose of COVID-19 vaccine in Rangpur

A total of 1,81,327 citizens got the second dose of the COVID-19 vaccine with inoculation of 13,194 more people today with the second dose of the jab in Rangpur division.

Health officials said the 13,194 citizens, who were inoculated with the second dose of the COVID-19 vaccines today, include 8,022 male and 5,172 female, of all eight districts in the division.

“The total of 1,81,327 second dose recipient citizens, including 1,20,624 male and 60,703 female of the division, previously got the first dose at least two months ago,” Divisional Director (Health) Dr Md Ahad Ali told BSS.

The district-wise break-up of the second dose recipient 1,81,327 citizens stands at 34,826 in Rangpur, 17,144 in Panchagarh, 25,490 in Nilphamari, 12,923 in Lalmonirhat, 16,579 in Kurigram, 18,049 in Thakurgaon, 38,824 in Dinajpur and 16,492 in Gaibandha.

“Meanwhile, a total 1,647 citizens, including 931 male and 716 female, were vaccinated with the first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine today in the division,” Dr Ali said.

The total number of citizens who got the first dose of the vaccine now rose to 5,94,905, including 3,56,285 male and 2,38,620 female, with inoculation of more 1,647 people today in the division.

The district-wise break-up of the first dose recipient 5,94,905 citizens stands at 1,68,102 in Rangpur, 44,223 in Panchagarh, 76,350 in Nilphamari, 37,185 in Lalmonirhat, 45,551 in Kurigram, 49,856 in Thakurgaon, 1,10,816 in Dinajpur and 62,422 in Gaibandha.

After taking the second dose of the COVID-19 vaccine at Rangpur Medical College Hospital (RpMCH) vaccination centre today, a number of the second dose recipient citizens told BSS that they were feeling normal without side effects.

They thanked the RpMCH authorities for conducting the first and second dose of the vaccination programme simultaneously in an orderly manner strictly maintaining the health directives of the government.

Chief of Divisional Coronavirus Service and Prevention Task Force and Principal of Rangpur Medical College Professor Dr AKM Nurunnobi Lyzu today said inoculation of the first and second doses of the COVID-19 vaccine continues smoothly in the division

He called upon all citizens to abide by the health directives and wear masks even after taking the first and second doses of the COVID-19 vaccine to remain safe and contain the rapidly spreading coronavirus infection in Rangpur division.
