Students attend make-up classes thru Sangsad TV

STAFF REPORTER, Dhaka
Students attend
make-up classes
thru Sangsad TV

The government yesterday started airing make-up classes for the students of Class VI to X through Sangsad Television during the closure of the educational institutions because of pandemic coronavirus in the country. Each student will be able to see the recorded classes from 9am to 12pm. The same class will be rerun from 2pm to 5pm. Besides, the recorded classes will also be available on Facebook page ‘Amar Ghore Amar School’ and Youtube channel if any student fails to see the classes on television during its designated time.

The teacher will provide homework after the class. The students will complete the homework of each subject as per date and they will submit their home tasks to their respective teachers after opening schools.

The obtained marks from the homework will be regarded as part of the regular evaluation.

Education Minister Dipu Moni urged the students to attend the classes through television attentively. She came out with the statement at a meeting in International Mother Language Institute in the capital.

“The recorded classes prepared by the expert teachers are being telecast from Class VI to X from today. This initiative has been taken with the directives of the prime minister so that the educational activities are not hampered due to the closure of the institutions,” the minister said. “Today the whole world has come to a halt due to the

pandemic of coronavirus. We should follow health rules and keep social distance to protect us from the virus,” she added.

The minister called upon everybody to stay at home to remain safe and thanked everybody for the efforts of televising class lectures.

Deputy Education Minister Mohibul Hasan Chowdhury, Secretary of Secondary and Higher Secondary Division Md Mahabub Hossain, Technical and Secretary of Madrasa Education Division Munshi Shahabuddin, Director General of Directorate of Secondary and Higher Education Syed Golam Faruk, among others, were present on the occasion.

The education ministry shut down the educational institutions from March 16 to April 9 so that the closure acts as a deterrent to the spread of the virus.

Considering the issue, the government immediately decided to run classes through Sangsad Television to minimise the loss of around 90 lakh students from Class VI to X during this period.
