Curtain rises on ‘Dhaka Int’l Folk Fest 2019’ today

After waiting a year with passion and patience, the most expected day for the music enthusiasts of the country has finally arrived once again. Now, it’s time to get ready for the great show!

The curtain will rise on ‘Dhaka Int’l Folk Fest 2019’ today at the Bangladesh Army Stadium in the capital. The fifth edition of three-day festival, which has also been considered as one of the biggest events of its kind in the sub-continent, will take place every day from 6pm to 12midnight.

Initiated by Sun Foundation, ‘Dhaka International Folk Fest 2019’ has been organised by Sun Communications Ltd. Powered by Dhaka Bank Limited, the title sponsor of the festival is Meril.

This year, more than 200 artistes from six countries, including Bangladesh, are set to share the same stage to celebrate the music of the hearts. During the three-day festival, artistes Shah Alam Sarkar, Fakir Shahabuddin, Chandana Majumdar, Kajol Dewan, Malek Kawal, along with Kamruzzaman Rabbi & Shafikul Islam (Bauliana) and dance group Prema & Bhabna Nritya Dal will be performing from Bangladesh. On the other hand, Daler Mehndi from India, Junoon and Hina Nasrullah from Pakistan, Sattuma from Russia, Chveneburebi from Georgia, Habib Koité and Bamada from Mali will celebrate the spirit of folk music through their soulful performance.

Today, prominent dance troupe Prema & Bhabna Nritya Dal and veteran folk singer Shah Alam Sarkar from Bangladesh, Chveneburebi—a traditional folk group from the land of mystic Georgia and Daler Mehndi—a celebrated Indian singer, songwriter, author and record producer will perform on the opening day of the festival.

Like the previous years, the audiences are going to enjoy the live show by completing online registration. The audiences will not be allowed to enter the venue with any type of bags, food and drinks. There will be no parking facilities for the private cars at the festival venue. Moreover, no one can enter the venue after 10pm.

The festival will be telecast live on Maasranga TV.
