An Australian TV channel is making a documentary film on Raudha Athif, a Vogue cover model and a Maldives citizen, who was found dead at the dorm of Rajshahi Islami Bank Medical College. On Monday, a “Channel 9” team from Australia visited the college campus and spoke to different people.
Steward, one of the team members, said that they are making a documentary film on the late Raudha Athif for a popular programme called “60 Minutes”. The movie will be telecast on Channel 9. “We’ve talked to the medical college authorities, Raudha’s father and the investigating officer of the murder case,” Steward said.
Raudha, a second-year MBBS student, was found dead in her college dorm on March 29.
In his complaint, Raudha’s father had accused one of her classmates of breaking open the door and lowering the hanging body. He had mentioned that the classmate might have strangled the model.
However, the college authorities told police that Raudha had committed suicide.
On March 30, the autopsy conducted at Rajshahi Medical College Hospital ruled Raudha’s death as a suicide.
Raudha was buried in Rajshahi.
Raudha’s father, Dr Mohammad Athif, filed a murder case on April 10, claiming his daughter had been suffocated. On April 13, the police handed over the case to the criminal investigation department (CID), whose request to the court for a second autopsy was granted. Raudha’s body was exhumed from the Hatemkha graveyard for a second autopsy on April 24.
Meanwhile, Rajshahi CID inspector Asmaul Haque said the investigation has come to an end and they will submit the final report within two or three months.
