During the tour, they will play two Tests and as many two Twenty20 Internationals beside the three-match one-day international series.

Even though they have been practicing since July 10 with the fitness training, they began their main practice after the arrival of their head coach Chandika Hathurusingha, who went for vacation from London just after the conclusion of the Tigers’ outstanding performance in the recently concluded ICC Champions Trophy 2017.

The Sri Lanka-born coach returned Dhaka on last Wednesday to join the team in their ongoing preparation camp for the upcoming home and away series against Australia and South Africa.

On Sunday Australia-Mark O’Neill joined the team as batting consultant on a one-month contract. Keeping the two important series in mind, Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) hired him for a short period so that they could improve their lower-order batting what was not up to the mark in the last some away series especially in the last Champions Trophy.

O’Neill held a discussion with Chandika Hathurusingha before talking with players. He spoke to Bangladesh Test captain Mushfiqur Rahim along with Liton Kumar Das, Nazmul Hossain Shanto and Soumya Sarkar besides working with tailendering batsmen.

Australian batting consultant gave some special tips to new-hope leg-spinner Tanvir Haider while he was bowling at net at the Mirpur Indoor Stadium yesterday.

Chandika Hathurusingha also talked with the spinners the likes of Shakib Al Hasan, Taijul Islam, Sunjamul Islam and Nasir Hossain. The ace all-rounder Shakib, who is yet to take off for Jamaica to join the tent of Jamaica Tallawahs ahead of their Caribbean Premier League (CPL) campaign.

While Hathurusingha was working with spinners in Indoor, fast bowling coach Courtney Walsh was working with fast bowlers at the BCB-National Cricket Academy (NCA) ground.

He suggested the bowlers including Mustafizur Rahman, Taskin Ahmed, Rubel Hossain, Shafiul Islam, Muktar Ali and Kamrul Islam Rabbi to bowl spot bowling. The bowlers got chance to bowl two-over each.

The intense skill practice session ended after a four-hour-long hiatus with the team meeting.
