Customers suffer during
network upgradation

Customers of Banglalink, the country’s third-largest mobile phone operator, were facing disruptions in services yesterday amid network upgradation work by the operator.

A number of Banglalink customers told The Independent that they failed to receive or make any phone calls throughout the day.

They alleged that the mobile phone operator also did not give any prior notice in this regard.

Obaidullah, a Banglalink customer, said that he called several times his younger brother but all his calls failed.

Asiful Islam Dip, another customer, said he faced a similar problem yesterday.

When contacted, Ankit Sureka, Corporate Communications Senior Manager, Banglalink, admitted that there were disruptions in

services. “We are undertaking a major system upgradation work since the early hours of 13th December in order to implement a state of the art technology. We are expecting to complete the process shortly,“ he said.

“This upgradation would allow Banglalink to utilise the most modern technologies in the world and artificial intelligence for offering customers a seamless connectivity, better service experiences and enhanced digital services,” he added.  

During the upgradation process, some services were not fully operational due to some technical issues, he said.

He said the consumers will get uninterrupted services from tomorrow (Sunday).
