Rupganj retain top spot in DPL

Shahriar Nafees smashed a scintillating 113 as Legends of Rupganj swatted aside Prime Doleshwar Sporting Club by seven wickets to retain top spot after the third-round fixture of the DPL Super League at BKSP Ground-3 in Savar yesterday.

Chasing the moderate target of 206 to win, Legends of Rupganj did not face any major trouble after they mislaid Mohammad Naim before opening their accounts. They reached the destination for their gritty resistance especially Shahriar Nafees’ steadfast knock. He put together 100 for the second-wicket with Mehedi Maruf, who got out for 41.

Nafees lashed an unbeaten 113 off 142 that featured 11 boundaries and a six. Later, he was adjudged player of the match for his jaw-dropping batting show.

Earlier, Prime Doleshwar Sporting Club decided to bat after winning the toss but they did not make a good start in the face of combined attack of the Legends’ bowlers especially Taskin Ahmed and Mohammad Shohid.

Elsewhere at Khan Shaheb Osman Ali Stadium at Fatullah, Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club pipped Mohammedan Sporting Club by seven wickets in the low-scoring affair.

To get the paltry target, Sheikh Jamal run down it with ease as they had to play only 33.3 overs to reach it. Nurul Hasan played a blistering but unbeaten innings of 83. His 85-ball knock that studded with nine fours and a six.
