4 workers hurt in factory fire   

At least four workers suffered burn injuries as a fire broke out in a shoe factory at Agamasi Lane under Bangshal thana of the capital early Saturday.

Sources at the Fire Service Control Room here said the fire broke out around 1:34am at the factory on the 2nd floor of a four-storey building.

On information, six fire-fighting units rushed in and brought the situation under control around 2:44am.

The injured were taken to the burn unit of Dhaka Medical College Hospital.

Housewife strangled in Keraniganj

A housewife was strangled to death allegedly by her husband over family feud in Bandho Dakpara area in Keraniganj on Friday night.

The deceased was identified as Firoza Begum, 18, wife of Saddam Hossain.

Quoting family members, sub-inspector Amirul Islam of Keraniganj Model Police Station said Firoza Begum married Saddam Hossain eight months back.

Firoza locked into an altercation with her husband over trivial matter, police said. At one stage, Saddam strangled Firoza around 9:30 pm, police said quoting family members.

Soon after the incident, Saddam fled away from home, said the SI.
