HC continues delivering verdict
in Tareque Masud death case

The High Court (HC) has been continuing delivery of verdict for the second consecutive day yesterday in the compensation case filed in connection with the death of a film-maker Tareque Masud in a road accident, reports BSS. The division bench of the HC comprising Justice Zinat Ara and Justice Kazi Md Ejarul Haque Akondo has started delivering the verdict in the case since Wednesday. The court stayed pronouncement of the verdict in the case till Sunday. Noted lawyer Dr Kamal Hossain moved for Tareque's wife Catherine Masud while Advocate Abdus Sobhan Tarafder for the bus owner and Barrister Imran A Siddique and Barrister Ahsan A Siddique for the Reliance Insurance Company.  Deputy attorney Israt Zahan moved for the state. The trial in the case has started on March 13, 2016. Seven people gave deposition in favour of Catherine Masud, five for bus owners association and one for Reliance Insurance Company. Masud and Munir were killed in an accident on Jan 13, 2011 at Manikganj; the compensation cases were filed on Feb 2, 2012.
