Mita Haque to receive Rabindra Mela Award

Like the previous years, Channel i is organizing the Rabindra Mela on its premises in the city’s Tejgaon area to mark the 156th birth anniversary of Nobel laureate poet Rabindranath Tagore. The event titled ‘Robi Channel i Rabindra Mela’ will be held today, and this year, Rabindra Sangget singer Mita Haque will be honoured with lifetime achievement award for his contribution to the field of Rabindra Sangeet.
The members of Channel i board of directors will hand over the crest, certificates and cheque to the recipient at the fair today. Rabindra Mela this year will feature the performance of Rabindra Sangeet by young and veteran singers, Rabindra dance-drama, children’s dance, reciting Tagore poems, reading out his essays and drawing on Rabindranath.
Eminent Rabindra Sangeet singers Rezwana Choudhury Bannya, Sadi Mohammad, Lily Islam, Shama Rahman, Anima Ray and others will render Tagore songs at the event.
In addition, several stalls will be put on the fair premises, which will feature Tagore’s book, audio CD, video songs, cover. Besides, many stalls of traditional goods, small and handicraft industries will be installed at the fair premises. Earlier, Kalim Sharafi, Ajit Ray, Dr Sanjida Khatun, Rezwana Choudhury Bannya, Sadi Mohammad, Fahmida Khatun, Ataur Rahman, Dr Anisuzzaman and Dr Ahmad Rafique awarded with ‘Rabindra Mela’ award.
The fair will be inaugurated at 4pm today, which will be attended by Rabindra exponents, Rabindra artistes, cultural personalities, litterateurs, editors from different media houses and directors of Channel i, among others. The programme will be telecast live on Channel i.
