Digitisation ‘creates scope’ for self-employment

The on-going digitisation process had created scope of employment and income generation in various ways including out-sourcing, selling products through e-shop and offering different services at the Union Information Service Centres (UISCs), said speakers. They also said, "The country must be built as digital Bangladesh to ensure its middle income status by 2021”. The word ‘digital’ used by the rulling government seemingly means doing work in the country’s every sphere easily and rapidly by using the computing system. The common people have started getting digital services like e-governance, e-education, e-agriculture, e-health and other e-services at the union, upazila and district levels. The speakers made the remarks at the concluding ceremony of a three-day ‘Digital Innovation Fair-2016’ at the premises of Khulna Collectorate Bhaban under Sadar police station in the city.
 division administration arranged the fair aimed at materialising the dream of ‘Digital Bangladesh’ to enable the country meet global challenges and develop human resources through Information and Communication Technology (ICT).
The speakers stressed that the process would also help develop a knowledge-based society and good governance. They called upon all the participants of the fair to work hard to achieve the ‘Vision-2021’ saying that there were still miles to go to achieve that goal.
Principal Secretary to the Prime Minister Md Abul Kalam Azad addressed the concluding ceremony as chief guest. Divisional Commissioner of Khulna Md Abdus Samad presided over the function. Additional Secretary to the Cabinate Division Md Moyeen Uddin, Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Police, Khulna Range SM Moniruzzaman, Additional Commissioner of Khulna Metropolital Police (KMP) Md Mahbub Hakim and Policy Adviser of A2I Project Md Anusur Rahman were present as special guests. Additional Divisional Commissioner (general) of Khulna Md Faruk Hossain delivered the address of welcome.
Chief guest Abul Kalam Azad said the government wants to reach service to the people quickly through utilizing digitized Information and Communication Technologies at the lowest costs to accelerate the development process with accountability and transparency. He called upon all for sensitizing and bridging the people with the ICT to ensure their rights to information and getting services easily in the process of realizing the ‘Vision 2021’ as envisioned by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
