Fuel traders observed strike to realize seven point demands

BSS

Bangladesh Fuel Distributors Association and Khulna Tank Lorry Owners Association observed a seven-hour strike from 6.00am yesterday at 10 districts in Khulna division to realize their seven point demands, reports BSS.
President of Khulna division fuel distributors association Abdul Gaffar said the authority concerned did not pay heed to their demands despite their repeated requests.
"At a press conference on February 21, we gave an ultimatum for meeting seven point demands within March 27. If the authority concerned fail to realize their demands within March 27, we declared to observe seven hours strike on March 28", Gaffar Biswas said.
The seven point demands include stopping sales of fuel at open market from private refinery, taking permission of petrol pump owners to purchase fuel directly from refinery, stopping giving license for petrol pumps without explosives license and prior discussion with the association to establish any new petrol pump.
Gaffar Biswas said they will enforce tougher action prorammes later if their demands are not met.
Two organisations-- Khulna Division Tank Lorry Labourer Union and Padma, Meghna, Jamuna Labourer Welfare Association-- expressed their support to the seven point demands, he added.
