Flourish talent of children: President

BSS

Underscoring the need for ensuring proper environment for development of the children, President Abdul Hamid yesterday urged the children's organisations to work along with Bangladesh Shishu Academy for flourishing of the latent talents of the children, reports BSS .
"We've to ensure proper development of the children because it is the moral responsibility and duty of all of us as any unexpected entry into the domain of the children does not bring any positive result for their mentality," the president said while speaking at the National Children Prize Competition 2016 of Bangladesh Shishu Academy in the capital.
He said textbook-based education is not enough for proper development of the children because they have many dreams. Some of them want to be cricketer, artist, writer and some want to be poet and athlete and it is the responsibility of the society to extend them cooperation for building their career as per their choice, he added.
"Try to keep confidence in the personality and interest of the children and it must not be wise to impose anything against their will because it will hamper their natural development," the president said.
Lauding the role of Bangladesh Shishu Academy for flourishing of the talents of the children, Abdul Hamid said the academy is publishing books and magazines containing stories, novels, rhymes-poems, science and Liberation War-based stories suitable for the children.
The president said the academy has set up the Media and Communication Cell and introduced online admission for training of children.
It has also taken steps to introduce online television for children, he added.
Chairman of Shishu Academy Begum Selina Hossain presided over the programme while State Minister for Women and Children Affairs Begum Meher Afroz and Secretary Nasima Begum spoke on the occasion.
