65 detained in Ctg

Police in overnight drive nabbed 65 people, including an activist of Jamaat-e-Islami, from different upazilas of Chittagong district on Sunday night on various charges. The activist of Jamaat-e-Islami was identified as Md Enam, 24, a student of Chittagong University. Kazi Abdul Awal, additional superintendent of police (Special Branch) of Chittagong district police, said police in special drives from Sunday night to Monday morning, arrested 65 people from different upazilas of the district. Of them, 51 people are warranted accused in different cases and 13 others are accused in regular cases.

Seminar on drug abuse held

A seminar on ‘drug abuse and addiction, remedy and our responsibility’ was held at Rangpur Cantonment School and College on Sunday. Rangpur Cantonment School and College and Millennium Stars School and College, Rangpur organised the seminar participated by principal, teachers, employees and students. Colonel Md Neamul Islam Fatemi, Bir Pratik, BGBM, AFWC, Psc, Colonel Admin, area headquarters Rangpur and member of managing committee, Cantonment Public School and College, Rangpur Cantonment.

US embassy holiday tomorrow

The US Embassy in Dhaka, including its consular section, will remain closed on Wednesday on the occasion of Victory Day, a national holiday in Bangladesh. The American Centre, Archer K. Blood American Centre Library, and the Education USA Student Advising Centre will also remain closed on the day. However, emergency services for American citizens will be available, said a press release.

Two held with phensidyl

Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) arrested two men along with 500 bottles of phensidyl from Bidirpur intersection area of Godagari upazila on Sunday night, reports UNB.
The arrestees were Enamul Haque and Swapan Miah, both residents of the area. Hasan Ali, assistant commanding officer of BGB battalion-1, said a team of the border guards ina drive arrested them.
