Madrasa teacher ‘beats student to death’

A 7 year old madrasa student was allegedly beaten to death by a teacher in Keraniganj of the capital on Saturday. A case has been filed against Hafez Mawlana Abdur Muktadir, a teacher of Islamia Madrasa of Doleswar area of South Keraniganj, for beating a student to death. Shah Jaman, officer-in-charge of Keraniganj Police Station, said the victim Shuvo Hasan, 7, was severely injured after his teacher Muktadir beat him up on Saturday. The teacher went into hiding after the victim’s aunt filed a case with Keraniganj police, he added. Shuvo’s relatives took him to Dhaka Medical College Hospital when his condition deteriorated. He succumbed to his injuries later that night.
