The 8th National Council of Bangladesh Gram Theatre and ‘Selim Al Deen Utsab 2019’ will kick off today on the premises of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy (BSA) in Segun Bagicha of the capital. The three-day event, organised jointly by Bangladesh Gram Theatre and Dhaka Theatre, will be inaugurated by state minister for cultural affairs KM Khalid at the National Theatre Hall of BSA.
Bangladesh Gram Theatre president Nasiruddin Yousuff, presidium members Afsar Ahmed, Kazi Sayeed Hossain Dulal, Sammilita Sangskritik Jote president Golam Kuddus, Pathanatak Parishad president Mannan Hira, among others, will attend the council.
Three awards—in remembrance of Selim Al Deen, Mir Maksud-us-Salehin-Bazlul Karim and Fawzia Yasmin Shibli—will be distributed on the opening day today.
Rajshahi-based theatre Padma Boral will present its jatra pala ‘Bohurupe Asibo Phire’ directed by Sajedul Karim at the same venue.
In the later part of the day, Bangla Theatre (Faridpur) will stage Selim Al Deen’s play ‘Nimajjan’ at 7:30pm at the National Theatre Hall.
Various types of programmes will take place during the three-day event until November 2.
