2 held with 17,000 yaba pills

Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) members arrested two people along with 17,000 yaba tablets in a private car from the city’s Sobhanighat area on Saturday afternoon.
The arrestees are Kabir Ahmed, 38, son of late Abdul Khaleque of Pirnagar in Jakiganj upazila, and Manindra Sarkar, 27, son of Ratindra Sarkar of Kushalpur village in Kaliajuri upazila of Netrakona. Additional Superintendent of Police M Moniruzzaman, media officer of RAB-9, said a team of the elite force challenged the private car in front of Hotel Eastern around 3:45pm.
Annual convene on social security today

Annual Convene titled 'Social Security for the Ethnic Minorities: Proposing a New Policy Framework' will be held today 11am at CIRDAP International Conference Centre in the capital, says a press release.
Gazi Mohammad Nurul Kabir, Director General, Department of Social Service, will be present as chief guest. Along with Prof MM Akash, Economics Department, Dhaka University, Mohammad Khaled Hossain, Social Safety Net Specialist, SPSS Programme, Cabinet Division, Raina Ahmed, Deputy Secretary of Food Ministry will attend as guests.
