Al Mirad struck two goals as Bangladesh Under-15 national football team made a flying start in the SAFF Under-15 Championship thrashing Bhutan by 5-2 yesterday.

Held at the Kalyani Stadium in Kolkata, in the keenly contested first half Bangladesh led by 3-2 and added another two goals in the second half.

Al Amin Rahman opened the scoring in the very 15th minute but the Bangladesh boys could not keep the lead for a long when Bhutan levelled the margin just two minutes later with Somon Chowjang scoring the equaliser on 17th minute.

Bangladesh restored their lead on 21st minute with Al Mirad scored his first one to make the advantage 2-1 but Bhutan again fought hard to square the margin through Pub Dorjy on 32nd minute when it was the last challenge from Bhutan boys against their Bangladesh counterparts.

The Bangladesh youngsters made the first half tally 3-2 just a minute before to go for break through Shuvo Sarker. Thereafter, Bangladesh did not look back when they scored two more goals in the second half.

Al Mirad scored his second and the fourth for the team on 80th minute and Emon Islam Babu closed the sheet in the last minute of the injury time with scoring on 90+4 minute.

Bangladesh will play their second match tomorrow against Sri Lanka.

Mostafa Anwar Babu, who worked as the head coach on the day replacing the head coach Robert Martin told media in the post match reaction that it was too much hot to play usual game but the boys tried hard and won the match.

“It is very difficult to play usual game in the hot weather but the boys played well in this situation. They created series of scoring chances but could utilize only five and conceded the goals, when one for mistakes from goalkeeper and another defense lapse,” said Mostafa Anwar.

“But I like to say, overall, the boys played well as their first match in the tournament in hot condition,” Mostafa Anwar.
