Four killed in Ctg, Cumilla road accidents

At least four persons were killed in separate road accidents in Chattogram and Cumilla on Monday and yesterday.

Two motorcyclists were killed as a passenger bus knocked down their vehicle on Chattogram-Cox’s Bazar road in Amjurhat area in the district on Monday night. The motorcyclists were identified as Mohammad Shahjahan, 45, and his brother-in-law Rafiqul Islam Arzu, reports BSS.

The accident occurred when a passenger bus hit the motorcycle in the area while they were going to Chattogram city from Patiya, leaving the duo dead on the spot,” said Borhan Uddin, Officer-in-Charge of Patiya thana. On information, police recovered the bodies and sent to Chattogram Medical College Hospital morgue for autopsy. Police detained the bus but its driver and helper escaped safely.

UNB adds from Cumilla, two people were killed and three others injured in a road accident at Kursap on Dhaka-Chattogram highway in Debidwar Upazila yesterday morning. Inspector Monirul Islam, in-charge of Eliotganj Highway Police Outpost, said a Cumilla-bound microbus was hit by a speeding vehicle from behind around 7:30am, leaving the two dead on the spot and three others injured.

The injured were taken to Comilla Medical College Hospital, he said, adding the deceased could not be identified immediately.

All the victims were travelling by the microbus.
