A team of Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (SUST) students introduced Bangla speaking robot 'Li' at a media briefing on the campus yesterday. The robot, standing at four feet one inch, was first inaugurated in a casual event on April 20 in presence of State Minister for ICT Zunaid Ahmed Palak and SUST Professor Muhammed Zafar Iqbal.
Li can walk on two legs and understands and speaks Bangla. He can also identify faces, mimic expressions and answer questions regarding Bangladesh and the Liberation War. The robot was made by a five-member team called 'Friday Lab' led by former SUST student and lecturer of North-East University Nowshad Sajib with three years of frantic efforts which cost around Tk 10 lakh.
