Youth dies falling off ‘flyover’

UNB, Dhaka

A young man was killed reportedly after falling from the Mayor Hanif Flyover in the city’s Swamibagh area on Wednesday night.

The deceased was identified as Mahibul Hasan Hridoy, 26, son of Abdul Halim. Hailing from Louhajang upazila in Munsiganj district, he had been living in a rented house in front of Narinda police camp.

Locals noticed Hridoy lying in a pool of blood under the flyover in front of Mitali High School under Wari Police Station around 8pm and informed police.

Later, police rescued the youth and took him to Dhaka Medical College Hospital where doctors declared him dead around 8:45pm, said Asiful Ahmed, sub-inspector of Wari Police Station.

Meeting of ‘Freedom Teacher Council’ held

The ‘National Extended Meeting of the Independence Teacher Council’ was held at Segunbagicha High School auditorium  in the capital yesterday, says a press release.

Vice-chancellor of World University of Bangladesh Abdul Mannan Chowdhury chaired the meeting. The meeting was also attended by General Secretary of the Council Md Shahjahan Alam Saju and other members of its National Executive Committee.

This meeting was held in the national parliament elections, the spirit of liberation war and the determination of the work of the teachers society.

MOU signing ceremony held

Casper Foundation signed a MoU with Abinta Kabir Foundation at Abinta Kabir Foundation’s Office in the capital on Tuesday, says a press release.

The MOU signing is a symbol of commitment between the two organisations to join hands in inspiring and empowering youth social entrepreneurs.

Ruba Ahmed, General Secretary, Abinta Kabir Foundation, Najma Chaudhury, Executive Director, Abinta Kabir Foundation, A A Kamruzzaman, Chairman, Casper Foundation, Arman Ahmed Khan, Treasurer, Casper Foundation, and Taufiq uz Zaman, CEO and Founder, Casper Foundation were all present during the signing ceremony.

Casper Foundation is a Bangladeshi non-profit organization which works with student leaders from 10 local universities.
