A thundershower yesterday (Tuesday) afternoon cooled temperatures to some extent. But commuters suffered as some streets went under water, creating traffic congestion. Poor drainage and unfilled trenches and potholes left by different contractors were to blame. The afternoon rain with lightning was a welcome shower for many, walking or simply getting wet to cool themselves having been caught unawares owing to the sunny start of the day. The maximum temperature was 34 degrees Celsius. Rain was reported from most city areas, but it was not even, said the Met Office whose rain gauge at Agargaon office measured only 1.4 mm. More rain is expected today in different parts of the country, including some heavy fall.
