Encroachers ‘kill’ forest employee

An employee was killed allegedly by the encroachers while a team of Forest officials were conducting an eviction drive in Dantmara area under Bhujpur police station in Chattogram yesterday.
The deceased was identified as Abdus Salam, 50, a forest employee of Forest Range of Bhujpur in Fatickchari upazila in Chattogram.
Officers and employees of the Hasnabad Forest Range were conducting an eviction drive at around 1pm yesterday.  
A group of people, who are illegally occupying the forest land, equipped with local-made sharp weapons and bamboo sticks allegedly carried out an attack, leaving Salam died on the spot said Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Bhujpur police station Md Bayech Alam.
Police rushed to the spot and recovered the body, the official said adding that they are continuing the drive to nab the attackers.
