The deceased were identified as Dwin Islam, 35, son of Kalachan Mia, Imon, 22, son of Ramij Uddin of Islampur, Anwar Hossain Falan, 35, and Jony, son of Fakir Chan of Madanganj. All of them were workers of a hosiery factory.

Earlier in the day, divers from Narayanganj Fire Service and Civil Defence started the rescue operation and recovered their bodies from different points of the river between 9am and 10:30am, said Mamunur Rashid, its deputy assistant director. On Sunday night, five people went missing as the trawler with at least 50 people on board capsized in the river. Many passengers of the trawler swam ashore and others were rescued by another trawler but five people remained missing.
