Two freedom fighters of Tangail are yet to get state recognition after a lapse of 46 years of Independence. The two distress freedom fighters have become tired fighting with their daily life in their last span of life. They have been passing sub-human life. They demand state recognition. Shamser Ali 65 is the son of late Doraj Ali of village Kutubpur of Sakhipur Upazila joined Kaderia Bahini during liberation War. He fought valiantly against the Pakistani occupation forces under 15 Company Commander Khalilur Rahman. He took part in the wars. Now he is chained with poverty and hunger in independent Bangladesh. He works as orderly and gets minimum wages with which he is unable to bear the family expenses.
He laments that he is unable to educate properly to his two daughters and five sons. He has no land for cultivation except homestead. He is the owner of a mud house. He applied for state recognition. He contacted with many people to get his recognition, but all attempts turned in vain.
Company Commander Khalilur Rahman, local freedom fighters Khan Mohammad Selim, Abdul Gafur said that Shamser Ali is a true freedom fighter. They do not find any reason in not getting his recognition as a freedom fighter. Shamser Ali demand to the Prime minister Sheikh Hasina to get his recognition.
Ramjan Ali 63 of village Salina under Tangail Sadar Upazila is also a freedom fighter. He was a labourer of Sylhet Tea garden in 1971. He was impressed by the historic 7 th March speech of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. He went to Tripura Camp. He took part in liberation war under the command of Subeder Motior Rahman.
After liberation war he joined BDR as cook. But he has to retire from service on medical ground after 7 years. He is passing in dire need with his wife and two kids. He applied for recognition. Scrutiny was over but he cannot be sure of getting recognition. He demands prime minister’s intervention in getting recognition as a freedom fighter in his old age.
