Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) yesterday issued a directive to keep all kitchen markets and super shops closed from 7:00pm. Masudur Rahman, deputy commissioner (Media and Public) of DMP, conformed about the matter and said such an instruction actually came from the police commissioner. All DMP units have been informed about implementation of the directive. Drugstore, however, will not remain under the purview of the directive. “DMP issued the directive to all its units. Officers and members of the Metropolitan Police Unit have already visited the super shops and informed about the matter to the shop owners,” said the official. Law enforcement agencies, including the police, are working to ensure social distancing to fight against coronavirus outbreak and also banned public gatherings. Earlier on Sunday, the police headquarters slapped restrictions on entry to and exit from the capital.
