Seminar on ancient religious structures of Dhaka city held

The Department of Architecture, Stamford University Bangladesh, organised a seminar titled ‘Ancient Religious Structures of Dhaka City: Conservation and its Adaptability’ on the department premises on Sunday, says a press release. The discussion was followed by a colourful exhibition on the ancient religious structures of Dhaka City.  Prof Abu Sayeed M Ahmed, former president of IAB and current president (elect) of ARCASIA, was the keynote speaker.  Prof AKM Shahnawaz from Archeology Department of Jahangir Nagar University, Prof Mohammad Ali Naqi, vice-chancellor of Stamford University Bangladesh, Prof Abu Sayeed M Ahmed and Ar Tasleem Shakur were present. The panel discussion was moderated by Ar Saniya Tabassum, a faculty of the department, were present in the event. The panel discussants underscored the need of conservation of different heritage buildings and appreciated the department’s initiative to bring the students to a common platform to discuss such an important issue like heritage buildings.  The exhibition featured the photos of Dhaka city’s 24 Islamic structures and 12 Hindu religious structures built during the Sultanate, the Mughal and the Colonial period. Those images were displayed with documentation by 20 students (Batch 63) of the department. The exhibition was inaugurated by Sarah Bashneen Suchana, chair and associate professor of the department, with the honorable guests present at the event. The exhibition was also followed by a presentation prepared by the students.  Some 200 students from different institutions, renowned architects, archeologists, university teachers and professionals participated in the event.

Two-day job fair begins at RU

A two-day ‘RUCC Job Fair-2020’ began for the seventh consecutive time on Rajshahi University (RU) campus yesterday. Rajshahi University Career Club (RUCC) organised the fair on RU Sheikh Russel Model School playground. In addition to RU, other job-seekers, who obtained graduation and post- graduation degrees from other institutions, can avail the scopes of submitting their curriculum vitae (CVs) in the fair. Over 24 companies are taking part in the event offering spot jobs to the candidates after taking curriculum vitae and interviewing them. RU Pro-VC Prof Chowdhury Zakaria addressed the opening session as chief guest while Proctor Prof Lutfor Rahman spoke as special guest. Five seminars related to career building will also be held at the conference hall of Deans Complex during the fair.
