College student’s body recovered, abductor held
UNB, Satkhira  

Police recovered the body of a college student from Chaltetola Baganbari area in the district town of Satkhira on Thursday, two days after his abduction.
The victim is Rasul Ahmed Jim, 22, son of Sheikh Hemayet Hossain Himu of Fulbari Gate area of Khulna and a 1st year Honours student of Satkhira Govt College.
Police also arrested the abductor -- Zahid Hasan, son of Abdur Rouf of Munjitpur area of the town. Jim was abducted from the district town of Satkhira on January 21. His father filed a case on January 22 accusing 6-7 people, including Zahid. On Thursday morning, police arrested Zahid and upon his confessional statement, they recovered the body of the college student from one Liton's house at Chaltetola Baganbari area. Mostafizur Rahman, officer-in-charge of Sadar Police Station, said they sent the body to Sadar Hospital morgue for autopsy.
Child drowns in Chandpur
UNB, Chandpur

A minor body drowned in a pond in Nalithuba village of Faridganj upazila in the district on Thursday afternoon.
The deceased was identified as Siam Hossain, two and a half years old son of Rubel Mia of Srirandi village of Sadar upazila.
Locals said Siam's mother along with her son went to visit her father's house in Nalithuba village where the incident occurred.
Family members found his body floating in the pond.
Doctors declared him dead when he was taken to Chandpur General Hosptial, said Residential Medical Officer of the hospital Dr Sujauddoula Rubel.
Worker killed in accident
UNB, Chuadanga

A rice mill worker was killed and another was injured as sacks of rice fell on them at Piartala intersection in Jibonagar upazila on Thursday.
The deceased was identified as Nizam Uddin, 40, son of Rabiul Islam of the upazila. Quoting witnesses, police said the incident took place around 4am at the 'Satata Rice Mill'.
Sacks of rice fell on the workers while working, leaving Nizam and Nasir Uddin injured, said Saiful islam, officer- in-charge of Jibannagar Police Station.
Later, they were taken to a local hospital where doctors pronounced Nizam dead.
