Govt publishes new SSC schedule

STAFF REPORTER, Dhaka

The government has rescheduled the date of holding the Secondary School Certificate (SSC) examinations setting February 3 as the new date to start the annual exams. The Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education, Dhaka yesterday published the new schedule for the public examinations on its website to inform the examinees about the change.

The Ministry of Education has rescheduled the plan of the SSC examination following the rescheduling of the two Dhaka City Corporation polls setting the date on February 1 as the civic elections coincided with the Hindu religious festival Saraswati Puja on January 30. Education Minister Dipu Moni earlier announced the SSC and equivalent examinations setting the date on February 1, but the government rescheduled it because of the elections to the Dhaka city corporations.

As per the new examination schedule, the theoretical examinations would commence at 10am in the morning on Monday (February 3). The theoretical part will, however, continue till February 27. Later, the practical part of the exams would be held between February 29 and March 5. The new schedule of the SSC examinations is now available on https://dhakaeducationboard.gov.bd. According to the announcement of the education minister, a total of 20,47,779 examinees are going to sit for the SSC and equivalent examinations under nine general education boards.

Of the examinees, 10,24,363 are male and remaining 10,23,416 are female ones. Of the total number of examinees, 16,35,240 will participate in SSC examinations at 2,129 examination centres while 2,81,254 more students will sit for Dakhil examinations at 710 centres and the remaining 1,31,285 students will sit for vocational examinations at 673 centres.
