Hosne-ara-Talukdar new DG of Bangladesh Betar

BSS, Dhaka

The government has appointed Hosne-ara-Talukdar as new chief in the state-owned radio station. She, an officer of BCS (information) 1984, is the first woman Director General (DG) in the history of Bangladesh Betar, said a press release here on Wednesday. Earlier, she was Deputy Director General (News) of the same institute. Born on January 1, 1962 in Dhanbari of Tangail district, Hosne-ara received masters with honors in Social Welfare and Research Institute of Dhaka University (DU).
 

US embassy holiday Sunday

BSS, Dhaka

The US Embassy and its offices here will be closed on Sunday in observance of Martin Luther King, Jr’s birthday, a US federal holiday. Emergency services for American citizens will be available on the day, a press release issued by the embassy said here yesteday.

Info fair ends in Khulna

A two-day long Information Fair-2020 ended here on Wednesday with basic objective to inform the people about Right to Information (RTI) Act-2009 at city’s Public hall premises. District administration and District Sachetan Nagarik Committee (SANAC) jointly organised the fair. 300 structures demolished

The Chattogram Development Authority (CDA) in a special drive on Wednesday evicted around 300 illegal establishments from Patenga sea beach in the port city. The drive led by Special Metropolitan Magistrate of CDA Saiful Alam Chowdhury started at about 11 am in cooperation with the law enforcers. During the drive, around 300 illegal establishments were evicted, which were built up on about half kilometer area on the beach.

Pedestrian killed in Ctg

A pedestrian was killed after being hit by a city-bound train in Ambagan area of the port city on Wednesday afternoon. A man was critically injured as a city-bound train hit him around 1:45 pm, said Mustafij Bhuiyan, officer-in-charge of Railway police, adding identity of the deceased could not be known immediately. Locals rushed him to Chattogram Medical College Hospital (CMCH), where duty doctors declared him dead, said Alauddin Talukder, sub-inspector of CMCH police outpost.

BGB develops app to prevent border crimes

BSS, Dhaka

Border Guards Bangladesh (BGB) has developed a mobile app named-‘Report to BGB’ which will assist them to prevent border crimes with the information provided to them by the citizens through this app. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina inaugurated this mobile app based software application on BGB Day on December 18, 2019. This Mobile application will help BGB take necessary actions against any unlawful incidents includes-human trafficking, drug trafficking, smuggling to border areas of the country with the information provided by the app users. Apps user privacy will be maintained as per BGB policy.
