10 DU students get NEF scholarship

BSS, Dhaka

Ten meritorious students of Biological Sciences faculty and Earth and Environmental Sciences faculty of Dhaka University (DU) have been awarded ‘Nagao Natural Environment Foundation (NEF), Japan scholarship’ yesterday for their outstanding academic results. DU Vice Chancellor (VC) Prof Md Akhtaruzzaman distributed the awards among the students of different departments under the two faculties as the chief guest at a function at the VC’s lounge of the university, said a press release. The recipients of the scholarship are – Jafirul Islam, Subrota Datta, Shajnia Shashi, Md. Imran Khan, Samina Akter, Bappy Rakhain, Munni Khanam, Md. Moajjam Hossain, Mahfuza Khandaker and A. Hamid Khan Vasani. Speaking on the occasion, Prof Md Akhtaruzzaman urged the students to contribute to socio-economic development in the country, the release added. He stressed the need for creating awareness about environment among the people and enhancement of the quality of education to achieve sustainable development goals. The VC also called upon the students to participate in co-curricular activities to take themselves as worthy citizens. Dean of Biological Sciences faculty Professor Dr M Imdadul Hoque, DU Representative of NEF Scholarship Committee Professor Dr Mohammad Zabed Hossain, among others, were present on the occasion.

NU 3rd year Degree pass and certificate course results published

BSS, Dhaka

The results of third year degree pass and certificate course examinations-2018 under National University (NU) were published yesterday with 61.92 percent pass rate. A total of 2,19,341 examinees attended the examination from 1,815 colleges, said an official release here yesterday. The results are available on the NU website: www.nu.ac.bd / www.nubd.info. Students can get their results by sending SMS to 16222 from any telecom operator following the format NU< space>DEG>Roll number.

Three-day PSE-NPS 2020 summit begins at KU

A three-day Physiochemical Society of Europe -Natural Products Scientists (PSE-NPS) – 2020 summit began yesterday at Journalist Liakat Ali Auditorium of Khulna University (KU). The Physiochemical Society of Europe (PSE) is organising the summit in association with the Pharmacy Discipline of Khulna University. The summit focused on “Natural products for healthy living” to explore the prospects and challenges associated with research in natural products and dietary nutrition for the well-being of the society and the nation. Organisers said NPS members comprising prominent scientists, noted educationists, researchers, academics, nutritionists, doctors, entrepreneurs and traditional health practitioners from abroad are attending the summit. Mayor of Khulna City Corporation Talukder Abdul Khaleque was the chief guest at the inauguration ceremony of PSE-NPS 2020 summit while Chief Patron of the conference and Vice Chancellor of KU Prof Mohammad Fayek Uzzaman presided the meeting.
