Varsities observe Martyred Intellectuals’ Day

Different public and private universities observed the Martyred Intellectuals’ Day on their respective campuses paying rich tributes to the martyred.

In Islamic University (IU),  Vice-chancellor Prof Harun-Ur-Rashid Askari hoisted the national flag while its Pro-vice-chancellor Prof M Shahinoor Rahman hoisted the university flag in front of the university’s administrative building around 9:30am. Teachers, officials, students and employees of the university brought a colourful procession, led by the Vice-chancellor from in front of the administrative building.

In Rajshahi  University (RU),  the day's programme started with hoisting flag half-mast a top the university academic buildings, administrative buildings and residential dormitories at 7 am.  Later, they placed wreaths at the university Martyred Intellectual Monument while they observed one minute silence in front of the monument around 7:15 am. Led by RU Vice-chancellor Prof M Abdus Sobhan and other high administrative officials, were present, among others.

 In Milestone School and College,  the programmes adopted were-- hoisting of black flags, hoisting of the national flag half-mast, a special memorial discussion and prayer for the martyrs, says a press release. Principal of the Milestone School and College (administrative campus)  Colonel M Kamaluddin Bhuiyan (retd) was present as the keynote speaker at the special memorial discussion.  Students, departmental heads, all teachers, a large number of officers and staff attended the programme.
