Speakers at a post human-chain discussion have underscored the need for forging social movement as well as resistance against corruption for building a disparity-free atmosphere everywhere in the society. They viewed spontaneous participation of the community and the young generation as a whole towards the anti-corruption campaign has become an urgent need for building a mass-opinion against the corruption. Anti Corruption Commission (ACC) and District Administration jointly organised the divisional level students gathering and discussion meeting at Shaheed AHM Kamaruzzaman Zila Parishad Auditorium in Rajshahi City yesterday to mark the International Anti Corruption Day-2019.

“United Against Corruption” was the main theme of this year’s Anti- Corruption Day. Commissioner-in-Charge of Rajshahi division Dr Abdul Mannan and Additional Commissioner of Rajshahi Metropolitan Police Suzayet Islam addressed the meeting as chief and special guests respectively with Deputy Commissioner Hamidul Haque in the chair. ACC Divisional Director Murshed Alam and former chairman of Rajshahi Education Board Prof Dipakendra Nath Das also spoke on the occasion.

The speakers laid importance on empowerment of community to check corruption at institutional and individual level.

Institutional corruptions have to check first before taking lawful action against a person who is involved with corruption willingly or unwillingly.

Dr Mannan underlined the need for enhancing empowerment of the community people so that they can raise their voice against corruption.

He laid importance on making both the government and non-government service-delivery activities transparent and accountable for freeing those from corruption.

Although elimination of corruption is a very difficult task, nevertheless, we have to work together to reduce corruption into at a tolerable level, he added.

Earlier on, the divisional and district level dignitaries accompanied by large number of students staged a human chain programme in front of the auditorium marking the day.
