A scene from the play ‘Bhager Manush’

Four popular plays by four theatre troupes will be staged at the different venues of the capital today. Theatre troupe Padatik Natya Sangsad (TSC) will stage William Shakespeare’s masterpiece tragedy ‘Macbeth’ at 7:30pm on the premises of the Liberation War Museum in the capital’s Agargaon area, as part of the 11-day international theatre festival titled ‘BotTala Ranga Mela 2019’.

The play ‘Macbeth’ is the 34th production of the troupe, which has been translated by late noted litterateur Syed Shamsul Haq and directed by Sudip Chakraborty.

As part of ongoing 5-day drama festival titled ‘IDLC Theatre Festival’, theatre troupe Somoy Natyadal  will stage its popular play ‘Bhager Manush’ at 5pm at the Experimental Theatre Hall of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy (BSA), while Dhaka Theatre, one of the popular theatre organisations in the country, is going to stage its much-acclaimed play ‘Dhaboman’ at 7pm at the National Theatre Hall of BSA.

Adapted by noted playwright Mannan Heera from the popular Urdu short story ‘Toba Tek Singh’ by Saadat Hasan Manto, the play ‘Bhager Manush’ is directed by Aly Zaker, and written by Selim Al Deen, the play ‘Dhaboman’ is directed by Shimul Yousuf.

On the other hand, Swapnadal, one of the most vibrant theatre troupes in the country, will stage its much-acclaimed production titled ‘Chitrangada’ at 7pm at the Studio Theatre Hall of BSA.

‘Chitrangada’, the 11th production of Swapnadal, is written by Nobel Laureate Poet Rabindranath Tagore and directed by Zahid Repon. The script of the play is an adaptation of a tale in the great eastern epic `Mahabharata’, but with new and modern interpretations permanent for mankind.
