Action against corrupt elements to continue, says Quader

UNB, Dhaka

Issuing a note of warning, Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader yesterday said the action being taken by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina against the wrongdoers will continue until their spines are broken down. “No terrorism, tender manipulation, extortion and corruption will be tolerated. The action of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has begun and it’ll continue until the spines of those involved in corruption are broken down,” he said while speaking at a rally organised by the Gazipur city and district units of Awami League in the city.

Referring to BNP’s letter to the Prime Minister, Quader said, “BNP leaders are looking for an issue. That’s why they’re talking about the agreements signed with India.” Quader, also road transport and bridges minister, urged the transport leaders to withdraw the strike enforced in a number of southern districts, including Khulna and Satkhira, protesting the implementation of the Road Transport Act.

“I urged the road transport leaders to abide by the law and the Road Transport Act has been enacted to bring discipline on the road, not for punishing anyone. So, I urged you to withdraw the strike,” he said.
