Chinese worker killed by ‘colleague’

OUR CORRESPONDENT, Patuakhali

A Chinese worker was killed by his colleague at the 1320-MG Paira thermal power plant in Kalapara, Patuakhali.  The incident took place at the Chinese canteen of the power plant around 9:30pm.

The on-duty doctor at Kalapara Upazila Health Complex declared Fong Liu Jun, 35, dead after he was taken to the health complex around 9.45pm. Police arrested Chang G.

Hangz, 32, who had attacked the victim with a knife on Sunday morning from the power plant area.

Md Monirul Islam, the officer-in-charge of Kalapara police station, said: “The two Chinese workers used to

work in the power station and shared a room. Chong Jie Hangz and Fong Liu Jun clashed over eating noodles at the canteen of the thermal power station on Saturday night.

“During the fight Chong Jie Hangz struck the left side of Fong Liu Jun’s chest with a sharp knife. Fong Liu Jun was bleeding profusely. He was taken to Kalapara Upazila Health Complex immediately. The on-duty doctor at the hospital declared him dead,” he also said.

“The dead body has been sent to the Patuakhali morgue for autopsy. Chong Jie Hangz has been arrested and a case has been filed with Kalapara police station,” he added.

Dr Refayet Hossain at the upazila health complex said: “Fong Liu Jun was brought dead. The victim died on his way to the hospital.”
