Drive until crimes eradicated: PM

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina yesterday told Parliament that the anti-corruption drive would be on till the menace is eliminated from society. "Whoever the wrongdoers, including government employees, will be brought to justice if they are found guilty through investigation,” she said while responding to a question from ruling party lawmaker Mir Mostaque Ahmed Robi. The Premier said legal action was being taken against casino businessmen and corrupt people.

“Law enforcement agencies are alert so that no one can dare to commit such crimes in future. Intelligence surveillance is also on,” she told the House, with Speaker Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury in the chair. Hasina iterated her government’s stand of not providing any room to anyone in carrying out subversive activities in neighbouring countries using the soil of the land.

“No one will be allowed to carry out any act of insurgency in neighbouring countries using the soil of the land,” she told the House while responding to a supplementary question of Syed Nazibul Bashar Maizvandary. Taking the floor, the lawmaker said a quarter had been trying to create an untoward situation in the country using the Rohingyas.
