Technology- A synonym of development

Technology- A synonym of development

A country that is known for resisting change, we must give credit to ourselves for breaking through our old ways and embracing technology as the gift that it is. We don't need to go too far. Just imagine, if ten years ago, someone told you that, load-shedding wouldn't be a daily occurrence in our lives by 2019, would you believe that?

That might have sounded like a far-fetched dream. The economy has contributed so much in recent times that we can easily get access to better electric supply. Can you remember the last time you bought a candle from the shop around your street because there was no electricity at home? This digitalization wouldn't have been possible without the contribution of a few sectors. Sectors like RMG, Education, and IT have contributed significantly to our dream of becoming Digital Bangladesh. As the name suggests, "Digital Bangladesh" won't be achievable without achieving success in the digital sector. In this process, our central vision to become a middle-income state still hasn't been met yet.

Now, many people might have different opinions regarding Bangladesh becoming a middle-income country by 2021. When the Government of our nation declared the 2021 vision with a target to make Bangladesh a middle-income country, it seemed to be a little difficult to attain. Some may say we are not going to reach that level by 2021. Others might still have some optimism left.

But at least one is better than zero, right? We can't ignore the progress that we made so far. In a survey done by The World Bank, since 1991 to 2017, the poverty line in Bangladesh has decreased from 44.2per cent to 14.8per cent.

And can you guess what has helped us reach that goal so far? Technological advancement. Unlike other industries, ICT has a direct connection in converting different markets into automation. Planning to achieve the digital dream is only the initial step to development. If we don't execute the plans well, then all of it will go to the vain. And the role of the IT industry is to help those plans get implemented. If we take a look at leading software companies like Southtech, we can see they are continuously working to make life easier for people. By creating products for HR, aviation, banking industry, they are contributing to the success of our economy. The more people invest in the IT industry, the more it becomes visible that the economy is growing. Because if there is no money, then how would people spend the money? The blooming success of these industries also shows how much the economy of our country has increased in the last decade.

Organizations like BRAC, Expeditors, Eastern Bank LTD, Sajida foundation are moving forward with the help of software technology. So now that we see different organizations keep investing in developing their software, it shows that they have financial stability to spend that money.

If you ask organizations that have been functioning for more than 25 years, they can testify for the advancement that technology has provided for organizations. In the era where time is the best investment and asset people have, by creating customized technology for their clients, software companies are leading our nation to reach new heights of success.

Times have changed. What brought success to the economy 25 years ago, can't be applicable now. With time everything changes. So do methods of success. And the good news is, we have already decoded the cheat-code for our success. And that is the IT industry. Urbanization is happening faster than ever. People now slowly but surely realizing what does it mean to be a digitally sound nation. With technological development, we are getting one step closer to our 2021 vision. In this process, we can't deny that the development of technology has made fantastic advancement for our economy and GDP.
