Two new buses launched at IU

UNB, Islamic University

The authorities of Islamic University (IU) have launched two new buses on the campus in Kushtia in an effort to mitigate the transport crisis of the university.

IU Vice-chancellor Prof M Harun-Ur-Rashid Askari inaugurated the buses in front of the university’s administration building on Saturday, said sources at the IU Information Publication and Public Relations Office on Sunday.

IU Pro-VC Prof M Shahinoor Rahman, Treasurer Prof M Selim Toha, acting Registrar SM Abdul Latif and IU Teachers’ Association (IUTA) President Prof Kamal Uddin were, among others, present on the occasion.

2 DU students get scholarship

BSS, Dhaka

Two meritorious students of the Department of International Relations of Dhaka University (DU) were awarded “Syed Imtiaz Ahmed Memorial Scholarship” for their outstanding academic results in Bachelor of Social Science (BSS) examinations.

The recipients of scholarships are – Mansura Emdad and Ishrar Habib.

DU Vice-chancellor (VC) Prof Dr Md Akhtaruzzaman distributed scholarships among the students at a function on Monday at the VC’s lounge of the university.

DU Treasurer Prof Dr Md Kamal Uddin presided over the function while International Relations department chairperson Prof Dr Rashed Uz Zaman, Prof Dr Delwar Hossain, Acting Registrar Md Enamuzzaman and some other faculty members were present on this occasion.

Paying tribute to the memories of late Syed Imtiaz Ahmed, Prof Akhtaruzzaman said Prof Imtiaz was a brilliant student, a dedicated teacher as well as a good human being.

Prof Syed Imtiaz Ahmed was a Lecturer of DU International Relations Department. He died on April 01, 2006 at the age of only 33 years.
