Minister stresses reading habit from early life

Primary and mass education minister Md Zakir Hossain yesterday underscored the need for reading books for proper development of the children from early life.

“There is no alternative to education for the proper development of children. The reading habit does not grow if we don’t read,” he said.

The minister came up with the statement at a national consultation on ‘Strengthening Reading Skills and Habit in Early Grade for Quality Education’ at Nabab Nawab Ali Chowdhury Senate Bhaban, University of Dhaka organided jointly by Institute of Education and Research (IER), University of Dhaka, Room to Read Bangladesh.

Zakir Hossain said, “The government is committed to entire development of education. Room to Read has taken an initiative for building up reading habit in the primary level. We support such steps”.
